Join the band
 As a member of the Holbæk Pipe Band you are part of a community across difference in age. Through the joint interest in the music, friendships between youngsters and other people arise. There is great enthusiasm concerning the music, which provides a nice atmosphere at band practices. We usually practice twice a week, before major competitions though a bit more.
As a band we pursue an aim, which puts demands on every band member. At the same time there are good opportunities to develop as well as to participate in the teaching. Our invariable striving towards perfectioning our musical abilities put demands on the individual band members and the result is great satisfaction.
Holbaek Pipe Band consists of a grade 4 band and a number of students. There are therefore two ways in which to join the band:
- As a beginner with no experience with pipe band music.
- As an experienced pipe band player.
The beginner
- Will be taught how play the instrument
- Will learn to sight read music/scores
- Will learn basic rythm-figures
- Will be provided with an instrument and later on a uniform
- Will be taught solo or in smaller groups
- Will start playing with the grade 4 band as soon as possible

The experienced player
- Will have experience from playing either solo or with a pipe band
- Will play along with the band
- In time you will buy your own instrument
- In time you will help teach other players in the band

 Band membership
As a new band member you will start playing on a 3-month trial basis, and will be charged no membership fee in this period. After the 3 months you will become a full member of the band. The membership fee is a 250 Danish Kroner every three months. If you are under the age of 15 years of age, the membership fee is only 100 Danish kroner.

 My piping career started in 1981 in Dungillie Pipe Band. Initially I was tought by Jens Foldager. As I moved to Copenhagen in 1988 I started in Heather P&D. I was in the A-band and acted as PM of the B-band for a while. In 1995 I changed to Holbæk Pipe Band and acted PM. Later I become a piper in the band. I arrange the Scandinavian School of Piping and Drumming, too.
